Actor and Academic

(among others)

Lovely to meet you!

My name is George Concannon. I’m a Long Island and DC-based performer, writer, dramaturg, stage manager, and so much more.

My roots lie in performing musical theater, but in college I’ve developed a passion for working with classical texts like Shakespeare and the Greeks. My dramaturgical interests include Shakespearean adaptation as well as the interaction between contemporary social understandings and classical texts.

Currently, I’m pursuing my Master’s degree in English Literature at Georgetown University, studying Shakespeare and Romantic era. I received my Bachelor’s in Drama from Hofstra University, where I graduated summa cum laude and with highest departmental honors on my senior thesis (available to read under “Writings”). Most recently, my one-hour adaptation of King Lear was produced as part of Hofstra’s 76th Annual Shakespeare Festival; I am honored to be one of two alumni in Hofstra history to have their work become part of the Festival!

Oscar Wilde said that to define is to limit, so I don’t define myself as a single kind of artist. I’m always open to learning new crafts and creative skills!
